The principle of preservation rhinoplasty is to maximize the preservation of your nose’s features while correcting only the main defects such as a prominent bump or an oversized nose. This technique is particularly reserved for patients who have complaints about their ¾ or profile view, but little to no concerns about the front view.
Basically, instead of removing the bump from above (as in standard rhinoplasty technique) and then trying to reconstruct everything identically, the bump is removed from underneath, preserving the unchanged nasal roof. The whole job is done from underneath your actual nasal roof anatomy to preserve it.
