A lip lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure aimed at shortening the upper lip. Its goal is to harmonize the face by reducing the distance between the nose and the Cupid’s bow (the demarcation line between the skin of the upper lip and the red of the upper lip), giving more volume to the latter.

Once the patient is ready, the surgeon begins by making an incision at the level of the nasal threshold. Then, the surgeon lifts the soft tissues and removes any excess skin. Finally, he closes the incisions with non-resorbable sutures that will be removed after a week by your surgeon.
As soon as the procedure is completed, appropriate pain relief is administered to the patient, as well as an ice pack to help reduce inflammation. The patient leaves the clinic the same day; no overnight stay is required for this minimally invasive procedure. However, the patient will need to see Dr. Lyor Hanan a week after the operation to remove the sutures and review the progress of the lip lift.
The results of an upper lip lift are generally visible immediately after the procedure. Common side effects include some pain and sensitivity at the incision sites, as well as some inflammation and bruising.
The final results can be appreciated once all inflammation has subsided and the lip has returned to its normal appearance, which usually takes 10 to 20 days after the surgical procedure. During this time, the patient will be advised to apply Vaseline to the scar three times a day.
After the operation, Dr. Lyor Hanan recommends that his patients avoid strenuous physical activity for 6 weeks and avoid exposing the scar to UV rays for at least a year and a half to prevent it from darkening.
